However, I have a mac, and it doesn't look like there are any conclusive ways to remove malware from macs like there is for PCs (eg malwarebytes). Moreover, I don't know if this is a problem with the browser, or Mac itself. Does anyone know the best way to proceed with this? Thanks very much.

EDIT: Ok, so it seems that this problem is not limited to Macs, and is happening to people who don't even have extensions.
