Keep going until it's as much as a direct connection as you can get. I might feel the need to point out that the Microsoft RDP (remote desktop. Onenote for mac free.

Hi all, We are having a RDC disconnecting issue with one of our remote sites that uses RDC to connect into our head office terminal server. All other remote sites are not experiencing any disconnecting issues.

Head office: we are running a Win2008 server running terminal services. Using a Netcomm 3G15wn adsl modem router on a Telstra connection.

Session timeouts have been set to Never. Remote site: we are running a Win7 pro computer also connected to a Netcomm 3g15wn modem router on a Telstra connection. Win7 computer is connected via network cable directly into modem router. Problem: The remote site user can connect via rdc to the terminal server ok but experiences intermittent disconnections.

Sometimes within a couple of minutes, sometimes the connection may last between 10 to 30 mins. Troubleshooting so far: i have checked the internet connection and the logs on the modem report that the modem is not dropping out at all.

I have also spoken to Telstra bigpond and they also confirm there is no noise on the line or any issues when they run a line test. I have tested logging into the remote site via logmein and then using rdc to connect into the headoffice (just as the user would) and i experienced the reported disconnecting. Trying to reconnect screen. This tells me that the internet connection at the remote site is not dropping out as i remain connected to the remote site computer via logmein I have also checked the modem logs at the head office and it is also not dropping our during these disconnections from the remote site i have checked the event logs on the remote site computer at the time of these drop outs and there are no errors reported in the logs relating to the RDC disconnections. On the remote site computer I have updated the RDC and RDP to the latest versions available. Still keeps disconnecting intermittently. As a further test we have a laptop at the remote site which i setup with the same RDC and the remote user has been recently using this laptop to test the connection and we have found it is not experiencing any disconnections after a few days of use. So, at this stage it looks like the issue resides on the remote site win7 pro computer. But i do not know what else we can try to further narrow down the problem.

I have read some people believe the MTU setting on both modem (at the head office and the remote site) need to be set to 1400 as the MTU setting is the most common cause of RDC disconnections. Ive also read that applying the TCP KeepAlive registry addition helps too. I wont try these last two findings until i see if anyone has some better advise on what this disconnecting problem may be. Any help on this issue would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I applied the tcp keep alive registry addition on the server 2. I have updated the remote site computer network card drivers to the latest version 3. I have disabled tcp/ip v6 on the remote site computer 4. I have disabled power saving options on both server and remote site computer 5. I have applied the netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled command on the remote site computer. Both server and remote site have all windows updates too. Rebooting both systems now and will get the user to test it out again thoroughly If anyone has anything they can suggest i try.
