I am looking for a way to use Google Hangouts from my Mac, I know you can do so from the Web, but I personally prefer to do so from an App. I know text chatting is available from the messaging app, but Audio and Video is not.

You're wrong! And it is exactly like WhatsApp! Why do you think it asked for your cell phone number when you first signed in? And sure you need a Google+ account but you can create one in less than a minute!

What's the big deal? You don't even need to have any Google+ friends. The app uses your iPhone contacts list. All those in your iPhone contact list who have gmail or Hangouts or gTalk will show up, and those who are offline will have their pictures greyed out. Wish more people would figure out how to use it before writing a review.

Finally have a good way to use Google Hangouts - Update: The multiple account functionality works well, thanks for the update. I have always hated the hangouts app. Chrome extension like that don’t play well with my Macbook and i have been wishing for a long time that there was a real native app for hangouts. This app is it. It works natively and behaves itself.

No dependence on Chrome. More importantly, it integrates with OSX notification center and has proper dock icon badge, so there’s less change of missing messages. It also supports Google Voice synced throught Google Hangouts and i am able to call and text perfectly through the app. Problem solved. This app fits my need perfectly. Constant bugs - new message notifications won't go away from looking at the new messages, even if you click around to other messages after.

You have to quit the app and go back into it to get rid of them. Also, I can't start new conversations from chatty. It'll let me make a tab for the conversation, but I can't enter the conversation, if I try to click on the conversation's tab, it is unresponsive and does not respond at all. Instead it stays on the conversation it is already on. Though I can start new conversations from the hangouts app on my phone, and then continue that conversation on the chatty app.
